TLIE is pleased to congratulate Director James E. "Jimmy" Brill of Houston on his receipt of an Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award at the Texas Bar Convention this past summer. Mr. Brill is a sole practitioner with a general civil practice focused on probate, estate planning and real estate. Among his many contributions to the bar are chairmanship of the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Council, and chairmanship of the State Bar of Texas Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Professional Efficiency and Economic Research Committee. He has worked tirelessly to encourage other solo practitioners, working to develop mentoring relationships and support among solo practitioners throughout Texas.
Other honorees who received the award this year were Richard “Racehorse” Haynes, Roy R. Barrera, Sr., Judge Bob Shannon, Judge William S. Sessions, and George E. Chandler.
